About Life Lately

So I thought, before I go to work, I would update the blog on current life. Its been a while since a serious update about me of life. I threw that paper up in an effort to get back into this.

School is finally finishing up - at least I can feel the end approaching. This semester I'm taking a few interesting classes (I put up a list in the sidebar), while others, as is typical, are dull and dreary ordeals. The justice class I will leave at that paper I just posted. Getting into the concept of Justice is a difficult examination. Its hard to imagine that at one point, while the Israelites were killing each other, Socrates and his student Plato had begun writing some of the most groundbreaking works - that would actually effect Western thought in major ways.

In a quick synopsis, we are currently studying Plato's Republic in my Ancient Philosophy class. More specifically, we are on Book II. A few quotes jumped out at me that I thought someone else might find interesting. I believe they are both spoken by Socrates (according to most scholars).

"A Lie is something you tell yourself and believe it"

"To be wholly unjust is to be powerless"

"The Strongest are easiest to kill in their sleep"

Interesting stuff. Anyway, the History class is semi-interesting (new word?), but its taught by (I think) a rather feminist female professor. Once we don't study women's roles (cause frankly, they did not do much in society in the 1500s to 1600s), the class gets interesting. We've been discussing the role of the Catholic Church as of late. Hopefully, I'll be posting my other paper -from the History class - on the church on here soon.

The band is moving along. Slowly (in my mind), but surely. More on that at a later point.
